 About the Performance

Fox Tales, the 2021 version
Peking opera x technology x images
In 2009, "Fox Tales" opened up a fantasy world of Peking opera.
In 2021, "Fox Tales" will further create a stunning image theatre.
The true love between a fox and human is retold in a new way.

Love knows no bounds.
In human or animal forms,
in male or female forms,
time and space can't come between.
Memory can't close the door leading to you.
I want no one but you.

GuoGuang Opera Company staged the "Fox Tales" in 2009. The play was written by the young playwright Zhao Xue-jun. With wild fantasy, Zhao created a play which went beyond traditional storytelling style in Peking opera. The audience was simply stunned by the image-based, multi-linear narrative structure, blurting "How can Peking opera actually tell a story like this"!
Twelve years have passed. The love between human and the white fox never dies. In 2021, the director Dai Jun-fang will collaborate with cutting-edge digital art teams to create a spectacular image theatre. Come and see the white phantom looming in the misty mountain in search of her long-missed lover.
