Exhibition Title:
Exhibition of Folk Arts In Taiwan
Date:
2008/10/1 ~ 2008/12/21
Note:
Traditional arts have been closely related to
the folklore. A lot of traditional handicrafts and
performance arts came from religion and custom.
In Taiwan, temples are not only sacred religious
sites but also folklore art centers. Architectures of
temples combine sculpture, painting, paste molding,
poetry, literature, and other visual arts and are
works of fine arts themselves. In addition, temples
are often places for people to perform folklore arts.
All kinds of traditional dramas and plays are played
in the courtyard. Folklore acrobatics are readily
visible. Street performers sing, tell stories, and
play tricks here, making temple courtyards local art
performance centers.
